Your first shop: setup page and findings
The setup page shows what your shop still needs before its first sale. You reach it from the dashboard or with the “Setup” button in the list of shop configurations.
Eight steps
At the top is the overall state: “Ready — this shop sells.” or “Not ready yet — this shop does not sell.” Below it are eight steps, each done, open or check:
| Step | What is missing while it is open |
|---|---|
| 1. Shop and start point | a published start point with a shop configuration, language and currency |
| 2. Basic data | home country, invoice sender, tax rates, delivery time, withdrawal period … |
| 3. Mail delivery | a mail configuration |
| 4. Shipping method | a shipping method with an amount in your currency, for every delivery country |
| 5. Payment method | a published payment method |
| 6. Number ranges | order numbers; invoice, correction and cancellation numbers where Consho numbers the invoices |
| 7. Shop pages | basket, checkout, order page, shipping costs, withdrawal, cancellation |
| 8. Legal texts | terms and conditions, withdrawal instructions, privacy policy, warranty notice |
Step 2 likewise asks for invoice sender and delivery time only where Consho numbers the invoices. Who issues them is explained under Documents and number ranges.
Findings
Findings say what is missing – and where you fix it. Three levels:
- blocks: the shop accepts no order while the finding persists – for example without a shipping method, without legal texts or without number ranges.
- warning: the shop sells, but something is not right – for example a test provider that is still active.
- note: shown only in the dashboard.
Two buttons that save you work
As long as something is missing, the setup page offers administrators two buttons:
- “Create the missing number ranges” creates the number ranges your shop needs, with suggested prefixes such as
RE-for invoices. You can adjust them in the mask afterwards. - “Create the missing shop pages” creates the pages for basket, checkout, order page, shipping costs, withdrawal and cancellation below the start point, each with its element, and links them at the start point. The pages are published but appear neither in the navigation nor in search and sitemap.
Consho deliberately does not create legal texts. An empty privacy page would be worse than the notice that it is missing.
The order that has proven itself
- Customer group (Members → Member groups)
- Mail configuration, then “Send test mail”
- Tax class and tax rates per delivery country
- Shipping method with tax class and amount
- Payment method, for example prepayment with IBAN
- Shop configuration: home country, invoice sender, number ranges (Consho creates five order statuses itself)
- Start point in the site structure: shop configuration, language and currency
- Shop pages and legal texts, linked at the start point
- Product type, manufacturer and a first product with a price
For the deploy: consho:check
Checks the same on the console:
vendor/bin/contao-console consho:check [--shop=<ID>] [--language=en]It ends with exit code 1 as soon as a shop does not sell – so a deploy stops before an unfinished shop goes online.
An agent can take these steps for you: Consho Connect. With Connect, an AI agent sets up your shop and works through the findings until the setup page reports “Ready”. On top of that come more exciting and useful features. Connect is available soon. More on Connect →
