Guest or customer account
Ordering as a guest and signing in rank equally. A customer account is not created in passing in the checkout – anyone who wants one registers as usual in Contao or creates it on the order page after the purchase.
In the back end
In the shop configuration:
| Ordering without an account | “Checkout” section, switched on by default. If it is switched off, only signing in remains – then Contao's login element belongs on the checkout page. |
|---|---|
| Base group of the customers | “Customer groups” section: the member group of the customers. In the registration module you choose it under “Member groups” – or you set “Activate accounts at once (Consho)” there: then new accounts go into this group straight away. |
| Customer groups with net prices | members of these groups see net prices; guests always see gross prices. |
Activate accounts at once: With the switch “Activate accounts at once (Consho)” in the registration module, a new account is active straight away, without an activation mail, and is also added to the shop's base group. Groups already chosen stay, such as a newsletter group. Where Consho needs a confirmed e-mail address, it asks for it itself.
Also set “Allow login” in the registration module. Otherwise the account is created, but the customer cannot sign in with it – neither to order nor for “My orders”.
Member
For a signed-in member, Consho fills in the billing and delivery address from the account. There is no address book with several addresses. Under My orders (an element of its own) the member sees their orders; earlier guest orders under the same e-mail address are added once the member has confirmed the address.
Guest
A guest simply fills in the address form. They find their order again on the order page through the link in the confirmation mail. Without a valid link, the page offers to send a new one to the e-mail address of the order.
On the order page Consho offers the guest “Create customer account”. They get a mail to the address of the order with a link to set their password; with that the account is open, in the shop's base group, with addresses, phone, VAT ID and language from the order. The username is the e-mail address. If the address already has an account, the mail names it and points to “Lost password”. An account whose password was never set is deleted by Consho after 24 hours.
For this the start point needs, in the field “Lost password” page, a published, unprotected page with Contao's “Lost password” module. Without it the order page offers no account.
Good to know
- A subscription always needs a customer account.
- There are findings for a missing base group, for a missing way to register (when subscriptions are sold or “Ordering without an account” is off), for a customer page that locks customers out, and for start points without a “Lost password” page.
